Digitalized pharmaceutical (sub-)process for manufacturing individualized therapies

Digitalization concepts from Industry 4.0 combined with digital process control, the Digital Twins and modern medical technology enable flexible, scalable, and automated production of individualized therapeutics in compliance with the regulatory framework. The demonstrator shows the automated sub-process of encapsulating mRNA in nanotransporters with integrated quality control based on a nanoparticle formulation using substitution materials.

Fraunhofer IMM is contributing to the precise lipid nanoparticle formulation using its knowledge of rapid mixing technology. Additionally it provides measuring instruments for inline nanoparticle size-analysis for process development and quality control.
