IMRET Poster Award for Dr. Johannes Rocker
Dr. Johannes Rocker received the a Poster Award at IMRET 2024 in Graz, Austria. His poster, entitled “Electron-mediated Biocatalyzed Synthesis of Chiral Fine Chemicals in Microstructured Flow Reactors,” presents innovative approaches to the electrification of organic syntheses by combining biocatalysis and electrochemistry.
In his research, Rocker focuses on bioelectrocatalysis to avoid hazardous reagents and solvents and enable the sustainable synthesis of fine chemicals. By using enzymes as catalysts, reactions can be carried out under mild conditions, saving energy and reducing waste. and applyingThe use of electricity to regenerate catalysts, is being developed as an environmentally friendly alternative is being developedto conventional chemical methods.
The IMRET (International Conferences on Microreaction Technology) is a renowned series of events that has been running since 1997 and covers topics such as reactions and (bio-)catalysis in flow systems, electrochemistry, fuel cells and the production of microstructured devices.
Dr. Johannes Rocker is a research scientist in the Sustainable Chemical Synthesis group in the Division Chemistry. We warmly congratulate him on his success and look forward to future developments in his promising research!
